GOOD NEWS: At the City Council work session, Council directed City Manager Young to restore about 1.6 million in proposed 2010-2011 budget reductions.
The Library’s $400,000 is among those items that the Manager has been asked to restore. Because of this decision it will not be necessary to charge a non-resident fee of $175 or reduce library service levels by closing a branch. The final decision will be on June 15th when City Council approves the 2010-2011 budget.
A decision about the Lake Jeanette branch has not been made yet.

New McGirt-Horton Branch Library Update
The July 29th opening date for the new McGirt-Horton Branch Library has been moved to August 26th at 5 pm. At the June 24th construction update our contractor shared the work yet to be completed and important furnishings and equipment shipping dates. It was apparent that there was no way to meet the July 29th opening date with the job completed to meet our expectations for our new library.
